Cross Apiary is a company that sells Bee Hive Insulation as well as other pieces of beekeeping accessories and clothing. This was a new venture for the business owner, Thomas Cross, which meant we were starting the project from the ground up.
We began with the logo design. Tom wanted a logo design which was easy to identify as being related to beekeeping so we explored numerous ways of doing so and in the end decided to proceed with the use of hexagons throughout the design. Unlike most projects we work on we now had ideas on how the design elements of the site would look like before the logo was finalised. We spent some time thinking about how we could include the hexagons from the site design in to the logo and came up with the idea of replacing the O in Cross Apiary with a hexagon. This alone looked great but it didn’t strike us with the Beekeeping image that we wanted so we included an icon of a Bee as well as adding a colour scheme which reflects the honey produced from the Bees.

Now that we had the logo design in place it was a case of using the hexagon feature from the logo throughout our design work for eBay and WooCommerce. We did this using colourful graphics for the banners and using the hexagons as subtle background elements as well as using them as dividers for sections on the site.
Tom was incredibly happy with what we had produced for this project and is now well under way managing his Ebay Store and WooCommerce website.
